Ezzahra is the green lung of the southern suburbs: villas under pine trees, a quiet beach on the Bay of Tunis, and a distinctly calmer feel than the north coast.
What brings people here
The seafront is made for walking and the swimming stays family-scale, well away from the crowds of Gammarth or La Marsa. Beyond that, a car opens up the whole south coast: Hammam Lif and its Boukornine mountain ten minutes off, Borj Cedria a little further, then the GP1 running on towards Grombalia and Cap Bon.
Practicalities
In summer the streets near the beach fill up at weekends and parking gets more contested — though nothing like the northern suburbs. The rest of the year the area is quiet, and the residential streets leave plenty of room to collect and return a car without pressure.

Frequently asked questions — Ezzahra
Yes, if you want a calm family beach on the Bay of Tunis without the crowds of La Marsa or Gammarth. The seafront is walkable; the car is mainly for exploring further afield.
Hammam Lif and Boukornine national park in about ten minutes, Borj Cedria a little beyond, then the GP1 towards Grombalia and Cap Bon. Central Tunis is roughly twenty minutes outside rush hour.
More contested near the beach on summer weekends, but nowhere near northern-suburb levels. In the residential streets there is space all year round.
Nothing is charged online: you book on the site with your licence and ID uploaded, then settle at the agency when you collect the car. Minimum rental is 3 days.
